A backup CD/DVD is an additional service that you can offer to your customers. This is a way for customers to purchase a physical version of a downloaded product. You can offer backup CD/DVD delivery to your customers as a good way to increase your cart value.
Backup CD/DVDs are sold within the cart as a recommendation. They should only be sold along with the original product. They shouldn't be sold as a stand-alone product.
Backup CD/DVD Delivery
cleverbridge offers on-demand backup CD/DVD production, fulfilled from our offices in Cologne, Germany, and Chicago, Illinois. During production the disc labels can be customized with the customer's name, email address, license information, and order reference number.
Setting Up in the Commerce Assistant
When setting up a backup CD or DVD in the Commerce Assistant, it’s important to select Backup CD as the Product type and cleverbridge delivers backup CD as the delivery type to ensure automated, on-demand production.
Don't Offer until Configuration is Complete
Make sure not to offer the disc product in the cart until the entire configuration, front-end (labeling), and back-end (CD/DVD configuration, file upload) are complete. cleverbridge will inform you as soon as the setup of the backup disc has been completed. After receipt of labeling and installation files, a disc can typically be set up within two to four business days.
